7-DAY DEVOTIONAL
Open Your Eyes
A 7-Day Journey to See What God Has Already Placed in Your Hands and Around You
Start Day 1There are seasons when what is missing becomes so loud that it is almost impossible to see anything else. The bill is due. The opportunity hasn't come. The relationship hasn't changed. The business isn't where you thought it would be. You need an answer, and from where you are standing, you cannot see one.
I know what that feels like.
But two women in Scripture have been teaching me something about those moments. One woman believed she had almost nothing left, only to discover that the little oil already in her house mattered. Another woman, Hagar, believed there was no provision left, only to have God open her eyes to a well of water.
One needed to recognize what was in her house. The other needed God to help her see what was around her. And both needed to act on what God revealed.
That is what these next seven days are about.
This is not seven days of pretending problems don't exist. It isn't a promise that every difficult situation will resolve the way we want it to. It is an invitation to stop allowing what is missing to become the only thing we can see.
Every day, we're going to pray a simple prayer:
“Lord, open my eyes.”
Show me what You've already given me. Show me what I've dismissed as insignificant. Show me what fear has kept me from doing. Show me what I need to learn. Show me who I need to talk to. Show me where I need to move. And most of all, help me believe You enough to take the next step You show me.
Let's begin.

What’s In Your Hand?
This devotional was inspired in part by the biblical stories explored in What’s In Your Hand? You do not need to read the article before beginning the devotional, but if you would like the deeper teaching behind the widow, Hagar, provision, and recognizing what God has already placed around you, continue there.
